A highly respected Gungganji Gurugulu woman from Yarrabah in Far North Queensland, Elverina is one of the Nation’s most recognisable and accomplished artists. Enriching the fabrications with Elverina’s bold prints and traditional storytelling, invites the wearer to engage with culture and country. These two original designs were hand painted by Elverina, both exclusive to Taking Shape. Her vision was then interpreted by the Taking Shape designers and brought to life in this stunning collection.
The Bunya Yaji-l Bamboo Top from our TS collections is an easy-wearing top that is designed to be worn back with casual wear, or styled up to make a statement. Inspired by the rainforest and mat and basket weaving techniques of the Gungganji women. These traditions are deeply connected to culture and represent the strength of the women and community. This plus-size top is crafted from soft bamboo, and features a v-neckline with hot fix detail, 3/4 sleeves, gathering at the waist, and spot mesh lace trim.

Beautiful
Bought size 18 (Medium). Material is light, soft, flowy, and breathable. Slightly stretchy which is great because I have large upper arms; doesn't feel snug. Really beautiful colours. I wish they made this exact same top in the blue pattern as well. It's a very flattering tunic style and looks great with black, navy, or white leggings.
My new fave
I just adore everything about this top - the fabric, the colours, the fit, the design. So flattering and comfy. Hope Elverina Johnson contributes more beautiful designs in the future.
Luxe Feel
Love the super soft feel of this against my skin. Colours are vibrant and look amazing with white pants or skirt. Pockets are an added bonus. Having just been to NT, the print took me straight back to Uluru. Hope to see more like this

This top is extremely comfy. I adore the colours, design and fabric. The added sparkles on the bodice were a nice surprise. I'm a shorty, so it fits like a tunic, which adds warmth as we move towards Winter. As an Aboriginal weaver, I feel a connection to the story behind this design...and an urge to get creative. Thank you Elverina Johnson for gifting us this wearable art!
