Soft but shrunk

This is a lovely soft top and is very comfortable to wear. I washed it in cold water but it seemed to shrink 5 or more cm, so now I can't wear it without something longer underneath- which defeats the purpose of a soft, easy to wear top. I did receive a compliment on the pattern the one time I have worn it.
