Jools is here to share what her beautiful world looks like along with some fabulous Taking Shape fashion.

We were lucky to hang out with Jools at the Taking Shape studio and put together some new season looks to share. You’ll see Jools throughout the new season showing her chameleon style. From glam to rock chick to casual denim, Jools loves changing looks, from her hair colour to clothes, there’s always something new and exciting to try.

Jools is a hairdresser by trade but so much more. When Jools isn’t busy being a badass miracle worker, (AKA Hairdresser) she can be found living a full life. She’s also a hip hop dancer, choreographer, mascot and all round rock chick legend.

For Jools the connection a person has with their hair is so much more than anything she can describe. Her Mum was a hair model at a salon across the street where she grew up in the 80’s. She was constantly fascinated by every colour her Mum came home with and the motivation for becoming a hairdresser was born out of knowing the impact you can make on someone’s life with hair colour. Much like the impact playing with styles and looks and colours in fashion can change your day.

Who is @Haus_Of_Jools?

I am Jools. I have been hairdressing for over 20 years. I own a salon in Brisbane and have a loyal clientele of artists, creatives, photographers, small business owners, mums and everything in between.

What does my world look like?

I am lucky enough to work my own hours. Whether that is in the salon or interviewing other salons for my upcoming podcast, travelling overseas for photoshoots, working with musicians on their film clips and tours. There’s always a lot going on.

I love my dogs and the beach and getting into nature at any moment we can. I get a lot of enjoyment out of work so my FUN is creativity.

Dance Life

I was a dance teacher for many years. I grew up in the dance world and performed a lot so being in front of a camera comes naturally haha.

Family Life

I am married to my amazing wife Marlo, we have a 14 year old daughter ( 4 legged) Veiya and two sausage dogs, Lucy and Stanely. (2 legged) haha

Things I love

Spending time with my family. Our dogs, nature or at the beach. Lots of coffee. Travel is our thing.

What excites me?

Travel. I am already planning the next trip when I’m still on the plane from the last trip. Pushing my brain and creativity to the limits this year is exciting me.

Hair is the crown you don’t take off, it can literally make or break your day!

The connection one has with their hair is so much more than anything I can describe. My mum used to be a hair model for the salon across the street from us growing up in the 80’s. I was constantly fascinated by every colour she came home with, and I think my motivation came from knowing the impact I could make on someone’s life with a hair colour.

I’m often asked why I became a hairdresser. For me, hairdressing is so much more than just that. It’s incredibly important that I find inspiration in my every day, whether the inspiration comes from my peers, art, music, fashion, my clients, drag - okay, you get the picture. So, when someone asks me why I became a hairdresser, my answer is simple. It isn’t about the hair, it’s about the connection, the passion and the love for my clients.
