Sleeveless Check Shift Dress in Check

I love the versatility of this. So warm and comfy to wear, but I can keep it very Melbourne with black long sleeve top and tights and leggings, or I can add a pop of colour on dreary days with hot pink or red. It's a classic piece I can see in my wardrobe for years

Lovely warm fabric, very comfortable with the added bonus of some stretch. A classic style that can be paired with any number of colours and long sleeved tees for extra warmth. Looks fabulous with a long sleeved bamboo/wool top underneath and my red overcoat as the final layer.rnI sized down in this style and there is still plenty of room for layering. The only drawback is that the hem length could have been a tad longer, I am 162cm and the length does not cover myrnknees. More of this style please but make it knee length.

I really was not sure about this as I don't wear sleeveless dresses because of my less than great upper arms however I bought 2 different ones last year and wore them in the cooler months with various tops underneath. Fabulous garment to have! rnrnI am not too keen on traditional classic but I thought a bit “old” houndstooth prints (this, to me is not checked) it is a houndstooth pattern done in a checked design print but I thought I’d give it a go. I have to tell you I was not sure what kind of polyester fabric this might be (slippery, too thin, etc?) but when it arrived and I opened it, it is quite robust, heavyweight for colder season but not overly so and it is soooooo luxuriously soft. So cosy feeling! I was upset to have to return it based on that alone! Sadly I need size 20 often now since the introduction of more sizes as they have changed. Normally I am 16-18. However this style is straighter and somewhat A-Line but more at the very bottom so it’s not fully so.rnIt is too big in 20 but an 18 would be tight and fitted on the midriff and belly but across the bust/chest it is so wide that the armholes came to hang off the sides of my body and are extremely big and sit very low on my torso. I pulled it upwards and realise it is made for the taller customer and then sits where it is supposed to. I am only 157cm tall (Petite). At the bottom it stuck out (for wider upper thighs?) so this is just not the cut for me. I think if a customer is bustier or more “square” built top to bottom rather than curvy in the middle it might be ok for a petite but my bra size is 18DD and this is just too big at the top nor the right cut for me. I think it looks like this on the model Georgia as well. Quite roomy on her. rnrnOn the right person this is truly classic for all ages and a staple garment for years to come. Very versatile as it can be worn casually and dressed up quite well and easily for many different looks. I could love the classic long time print and would have loved this dress because the fabric is truly plush and gorgeous! 5 stars for the fabric! 3 for the cut and sizing. Sorry! Good for taller or more full/bustier at the top people. Please make something like this which is PETITE friendly in same fabric and also a plain Black or other slimming and classic dark colours such as Forest or Emerald green, Dark Burgundy, Navy, Chocolate, Aubergine, Dark Tan! They'd look amazing!

What a surprise.rnPurchased because I like to layer more in winter, initially because of the colour, thinking that it would add colour and movement.rnAdded bonus.rnThe fabric is thick, warm and snug. Great weight for the season. As a neutral it has so many colour combos, red, white, black, grey, lime, mustard. rnI wore shifts like this in the 1960s ( yes I know) It has Pockets.rnVery pleased.
